Holes Cuts, Rising Weights/Gaps uses drilling cores, remnant stones from the drills in the region. It is fictionalized with the waves and internal rhythm of pointing at the time processes through which strong stones such as marble, granite are formed and that these stern and fixed masses used to be fluid and moving surfaces.
The work is displayed vertically hung from the ceiling as drilling is a vertical process. Observing the drilling and forming of the cores determines the display of the work. The work is vertical to protect the form of the drilling cores and sticking to the mechanics of drilling. The cores are drilled from inside a pipe with a diamond tip which drills perpendicularly 100-200 meters into the earth’s crust spinning around itself.
Holes Cuts, Rising Weights/Gaps wants to turn questions around height/depth and perception of distance into a physical space for encounters by inviting its audience to come near. The surface of the cores carry the marks of its slow movements from its formation process. Moving on, under, around and in each other, they change form and move in different densities. We see the final hardened state in colors and texture layers. The jumping pallett attached to the stones scales the jumping height and strike power of the person who jumps. It carries the mark of whoever jumps high and touches the bar until the next contact. It also makes way for a different experience of contact beyond an easy reach. Bodies and stones create a dialogue around observations of movements in a fixed space, different temporalities and ways of relating with them.
